The High Anti-Corruption Court reduced the bail amounts of three suspects in the Carthage case, which concerns the alleged cover-up of fraudulent call centers by officials of the Prosecutor General’s Office. At the same time, the court extended the term of detention of the defendants in custody for another 60 days.
To whom and by how much were bail amounts reduced
Investigating judges of the High Anti-Corruption Court considered the motions of NABU detectives, agreed with SAPO prosecutors, to extend the preventive measures for the suspects.
Based on the results of the consideration, the court extended the detention of three defendants in the criminal proceedings for another two months.
At the same time, the defense’s motions to reduce the bail amounts were partially granted.
In particular:
The bail of Serhiy Kropyva, former deputy head of the department of the Prosecutor General’s Office, whom the investigation considers to be the organizer of a criminal organization, was reduced from UAH 120 million to UAH 93.184 million.
Elizaveta Ivakhnenko, who appears in the materials of the proceedings under the pseudonym “Muza”, – from 20 million UAH to 15 million UAH.
The lawyer, whom the investigation considers to be Kropyva’s trusted person, – from 15 million UAH to approximately 11.7 million UAH.
Thus, the total amount of bail for the three suspects decreased by approximately 35 million UAH.
What obligations did the court establish
The High Criminal Court clarified that in the event of bail, the suspects will be subject to procedural obligations determined by the court.
In particular, they must:
arrive at the summons of detectives, prosecutors and the court;
notify about a change of place of residence and work;
refrain from communicating with persons determined by the court regarding the circumstances of the criminal proceedings;
submit documents that give the right to travel abroad;
wear electronic means of control.
Fulfillment of these obligations is a condition for the application of a preventive measure in the form of bail.
