They want to cancel reservation from mobilization for almost everyone: Bezugla proposed radical changes

MP Mariana Bezugla has come up with an initiative to comprehensively review the reservation system for military conscripts in Ukraine. She proposes to cancel reservations for most citizens, including MPs, leaving exceptions for the top leadership of the state and employees of certain critical enterprises.

Cancel reservations even for MPs

According to Mariana Bezugla, the current reservation system requires radical changes.

The MP is convinced that exemption from mobilization should not apply to most categories of military conscripts.

In particular, she advocated the cancellation of reservations for MPs of the Verkhovna Rada.

At the same time, Bezugla proposed to provide for a separate procedure for parliamentarians that would allow them to perform legislative functions.

In her opinion, MPs should have experience of military service in the Defense Forces or work in areas directly related to national security.

The politician believes that such experience could influence the attitude of parliamentarians to issues of war, defense, and state decision-making.

Whom Bezugla proposes to keep reservations

Despite the call for a large-scale abolition of reservations, the MP recognizes the need for exceptions.

In particular, she proposes to keep reservations for:

the President of Ukraine and ministers;
employees of certain enterprises of the defense-industrial complex;
personnel of critical infrastructure facilities;
certain categories of specialists whose activities are directly related to ensuring the state’s defense capability.

Bezugla paid special attention to defense enterprises.

In her opinion, it is necessary to keep the possibility of reservations for employees of such enterprises as much as possible, but an audit should be conducted beforehand.

Reservations for energy workers are also proposed to be checked

The MP separately raised the issue of reservations for employees of energy enterprises.

She recognized the importance of keeping personnel who ensure the functioning of critical infrastructure.

At the same time, Bezugla stated the need to check possible abuses in the reservation system.

In her opinion, the audit should help determine which enterprises and employees really need appropriate protection from mobilization.

At the same time, the report does not provide a specific mechanism for conducting such checks.

Bezugla previously proposed mobilizing women

This is not Maryana Bezugla’s first initiative to review mobilization policy.

Previously, the MP spoke out in favor of involving women in military service in rear positions.

She also proposed reviewing reservation quotas for medical workers and scientists.

In addition, Bezugla stated the advisability of studying the experience of countries where military service is mandatory for broad categories of citizens.

Will reservations be canceled in Ukraine

Important: at the moment, we are talking exclusively about the public position of the MP, and not about the adopted decision of the Verkhovna Rada or the Cabinet of Ministers.

Maryana Bezugla’s statement does not in itself change the current procedure for booking military conscripts.

To implement the proposed changes, it is necessary to develop relevant regulatory legal acts and go through the procedures established by law.

There is no information about the adoption of a decision on the general cancellation of booking in the above message.
