US President Donald Trump said that Ukraine and Russia are close to reaching an agreement to end the war. At the same time, representatives of the Ukrainian delegation are much more cautious in assessing the prospects of the negotiation process. The next round of trilateral talks involving Ukraine, the US and Russia is scheduled for November 10-11 in Abu Dhabi.

Trump said that agreements between Ukraine and Russia are possible

The President of the United States expressed his belief that Kyiv and Moscow are gradually approaching readiness to agree on a settlement of the war.

According to Trump, both sides can reach a common position and agree on a negotiated solution.

The American leader claims that diplomatic contacts are showing positive dynamics, although no specific agreements have been announced yet.

At the same time, according to the Financial Times, representatives of the Ukrainian delegation do not share the optimistic assessments of the US president.

Thus, despite Washington’s statements about progress, the parties’ positions on the prospects for a quick settlement remain different.

New round of talks to take place on November 10-11

The next trilateral meeting of representatives of Ukraine, the United States and Russia is scheduled for November 10-11, 2026 in Abu Dhabi.

The talks are to resume after a break of several months. The previous contact in this format took place in February.

According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the participants plan to discuss possible initial steps to reduce tensions and create the prerequisites for a further diplomatic process.

In particular, the agenda may include issues of de-escalation in the energy and maritime spheres.

Special attention is planned to be paid to the exchange and release of detainees.

The parties may also consider the prospects for organizing a trilateral summit with the participation of the leaders of Ukraine, the United States and Russia.

Moscow links talks to situation on the front

The Russian side previously stated that the further course of the negotiation process will depend on the development of hostilities and the general situation on the front.

At the same time, there is currently no official information about the parties agreeing on a specific peace plan or conditions for the cessation of hostilities.

Despite the statements of the American president about the approach of possible agreements, the results of the upcoming meeting remain uncertain.

It is expected that the talks in Abu Dhabi will be another attempt to determine possible practical steps for de-escalation and further diplomatic settlement of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
