Turkey intensifies diplomatic efforts for peace between Ukraine and Russia

The Turkish President held a telephone conversation with the new German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, during which the key topic was Russia’s war against Ukraine. Ankara once again stated its readiness to facilitate the resumption of the negotiation process between the parties.
As reported by the Directorate of Communications of the Turkish Presidential Administration, Erdogan emphasized that Turkey continues to work to ensure that the war ends with a lasting and stable peace.
“We are making efforts to resume negotiations and revitalize the diplomatic process between Russia and Ukraine,” the Turkish leader said.
In addition to the Ukrainian issue, the parties discussed bilateral relations between Turkey and Germany, as well as current regional and global challenges.
Erdogan also said that he expects decisive steps from the upcoming NATO summit to strengthen European defense and preserve transatlantic unity.
