In Ukraine, in 2026, the liquidation of two banks was completed – Concord and National Investments Bank. The Deposit Guarantee Fund of Individuals stopped paying guaranteed compensation to their depositors. At the same time, three more financial institutions are at various stages of withdrawal from the banking market.

Which banks finally ceased to exist in 2026

During the year, the liquidation procedures of two financial institutions were completed in Ukraine.

Concord Bank

On March 9, 2026, the Deposit Guarantee Fund approved the liquidation balance of Concord Bank and completed its liquidation procedure.

On May 5, an entry was made in the Unified State Register on the termination of the bank as a legal entity.

During the payments, the institution’s depositors received a total of UAH 631.2 million in guaranteed compensation.

Recall that the National Bank of Ukraine revoked Concord’s license back on August 1, 2023. Among the reasons, the regulator cited violations of legislation in the field of financial monitoring.

National Investments Bank

The second bank whose liquidation was finally completed in 2026 was National Investments Bank.

On August 4, the institution was removed from the state register of legal entities. On the same day, the Guarantee Fund ceased to exercise the powers of the liquidator and make guaranteed payments to depositors.

The bank’s license was revoked at the end of 2015. According to the NBU, its owners did not take the necessary measures to restore liquidity and improve its financial condition.

Three more banks are in the process of being withdrawn from the market

In addition to the two liquidated institutions, in 2026, three more banks will be subject to withdrawal procedures from the market.

RVS Bank. Liquidation began on January 5, 2026. The planned completion date of the procedure is January 4, 2029.

Motor-Bank. In February 2026, the NBU declared the institution insolvent, and its liquidation began in April.
PINbank. In February, the bank was declared insolvent, after which a temporary administration was introduced. Payments to depositors began on March 12.

It is important to understand that declaring a bank insolvent or revoking its license does not mean its immediate liquidation. This procedure can take several years.

How much money is guaranteed to depositors during wartime

A special mechanism for protecting bank deposits operates in Ukraine during martial law.

The Deposit Guarantee Fund reimburses 100% of the guaranteed amount of funds of individuals and sole proprietors, including accrued interest, in accordance with the terms of the legislation.

After the end of martial law, the rules will change.

Three months after its termination or cancellation, the maximum amount of guaranteed compensation will be 600 thousand hryvnias per depositor in one bank, regardless of the number of open accounts.

At the same time, the legislation provides for certain exceptions to the guarantee, so not all funds are automatically subject to reimbursement.

How to get money back from an insolvent bank

If a bank is declared insolvent, depositors can receive guaranteed funds through the Deposit Guarantee Fund for Individuals.

There are several ways to do this:

Through the “Diya” application.
Remotely through the online services of agent banks, if such an opportunity is available.
In person at a branch of an agent bank of the Deposit Guarantee Fund.
How to make a payment through “Diya”

To apply for a refund, you must:

Log in to the “Diya” application.
Go to the “Services” section and select “Return of deposits”.
Select the bank where the funds were placed.
Select the agent bank card to receive the payment.
Check the information and the amount of the refund.
Sign the application using “Diya.Signature”.

After submitting the application, the funds are transferred according to the established procedure. Usually this can take up to three business days.

If a person had deposits in several insolvent banks, applications must be submitted separately for each institution.

How to receive funds at a bank branch

Depositors who do not use electronic services can contact the Guarantee Fund’s agent bank.

To receive compensation, you usually need to have:

A passport or other identity document.

The registration number of the taxpayer’s account card (RNOKPP).

Depending on the available conditions, the funds can be paid in cash or transferred to a bank account.

What should depositors of liquidated banks do

After the completion of the liquidation of Concord and National Investment Bank, guaranteed compensation payments through the Guarantee Fund have been terminated.

Therefore, former clients of these institutions who have not received funds should contact the Guarantee Fund directly to clarify their case.

You can check up-to-date information about the status of the bank, agent banks, and the payment procedure on the official website of the Guarantee Fund.

Important: the cessation of payments in two finally liquidated banks does not mean the cancellation of state guarantees for depositors of other Ukrainian banks.
