Ukraine and Syria agree to open embassies: a new stage in diplomatic relations

Ukraine and Syria have agreed to open embassies in Kyiv and Damascus. The agreement was reached following talks between Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga and Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al-Sheibani.
Diplomatic breakthrough
According to the Ukrainian minister, the opening of diplomatic missions will be an important step in strengthening bilateral relations and developing partnership between the countries.
“We have agreed to open embassies in Kyiv and Damascus in the near future — this is an important step in strengthening our partnership,” Sybiga stressed.
Security and international cooperation
During the meeting, the parties paid special attention to security issues. The Ukrainian side emphasized the interrelationship of security between Europe and the Middle East, emphasizing the need for joint efforts to achieve sustainable peace.
Economy and Food Stability
The issues of logistics and the development of trade and maritime routes were discussed separately. Food security remains an important area of cooperation.
Ukraine confirmed its readiness to contribute to the stabilization of the region, in particular through the implementation of humanitarian initiatives such as “Grain from Ukraine”.
Education and Humanitarian Relations
The parties also emphasized the importance of humanitarian and educational cooperation. In particular, it was noted that Syrian students traditionally choose Ukrainian educational institutions, which creates a solid foundation for the further development of relations.
