Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga announced the cancellation of recommendations for citizens to refrain from traveling to Hungary.
According to him, the relevant decision was made in connection with the completion of the election campaign in the country, which was accompanied by information manipulations regarding Ukraine and increased risks of provocations.
Reducing risks and restoring contacts
“In connection with the completion of the election campaign in Hungary yesterday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is canceling previous recommendations for citizens to refrain from traveling to Hungary,” the Minister of Foreign Affairs noted.
The department believes that after the elections the situation has stabilized, and the risks that were the basis for the restrictions have lost their relevance.
Expectations of normalization of relations
Sybiga also expressed hope that the election results will contribute to the improvement of Ukrainian-Hungarian relations.
“We expect that in the political dimension, the election results will lead to the normalization of relations. Ukraine is ready to work towards achieving this goal,” he stressed.
A signal for Europe
The Minister emphasized that the choice of Hungarian citizens testifies to the desire for peace, security and European development.
At the same time, he noted that the voting results were a kind of response to the policy of blackmail and anti-Ukrainian rhetoric.
Further dialogue – on a pragmatic basis
The Foreign Minister called for a realistic approach in relations between the countries, emphasizing the need for gradual and pragmatic work.
“Ahead lies painstaking, pragmatic and calm work to find common ground, restore mutual respect and implement common interests,” he stressed.
The Foreign Ministry emphasizes that Ukraine is determined to restore good-neighborly relations with Hungary in the interests of both states and all of Europe.
