Ukraine’s economy loses up to UAH 2 billion per hour of downtime during airstrikes

The Ukrainian economy can lose from 1 to 2 billion UAH per hour of downtime during air raids. Such assessments of the Ministry of Economy and Environment were voiced by the head of the department, Oleksandr Kravchenko, on the air of a national telethon.

According to him, long air raids significantly affect the work of businesses. On some days, their total duration exceeds 20 hours, and during the last week of August, more than 58 hours of raids were recorded.

Kravchenko noted that the economy is also under pressure due to problems with exports and disruptions in the work of logistics routes and companies.

The government is introducing a differentiated approach to raids

According to the minister, the Cabinet of Ministers is looking for a model that will allow businesses to organize work more flexibly during air raids and continue operations where the security situation allows.

One of such mechanisms is the differentiated raid mode. In particular, during a “yellow” signal, enterprises receive more opportunities, together with labor collectives, to determine the format of further work.

At the same time, according to Kravchenko, the system still needs to be refined. Businesses need to be provided with more detailed information about the nature of the threat so that employers and employees can make more informed decisions.
