Ukrainian families can receive 5 thousand hryvnias to prepare a first-grader for school: who is eligible

All families whose children are entering first grade this year can receive a one-time state aid of 5 thousand hryvnias for school preparation. The right to payment does not depend on the family’s income level.

This was announced by the Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine Denys Ulyutin.

Who can receive assistance

The payment is provided for all children who will enter first grade in 2026.

In this case, the form of education does not matter. Families can receive assistance if the child will study:

in a state school;

in a private educational institution;
according to the family (individual) form of education.

The main condition is the official enrollment of the child in first grade and entering the relevant information into the electronic system of the Ministry of Education and Science AICOM-2.

After the school enters the data into the system, parents can apply for the payment.

More than 80 thousand applications have already been submitted

According to the Ministry of Social Policy, this year about 250 thousand children will go to the first grades.

As of today, more than 80 thousand applications have already been processed through the system, most of which have successfully passed verification.

Parents will begin to receive the first payments in the coming days. The funds will be transferred to bank cards.

You can submit an application until November 1.

What you can spend the funds on

You can use state aid to purchase goods needed by a first-grader.

You can pay for purchases:

in regular stores;

in online stores that use certain MCC codes.

At the same time:

you cannot withdraw cash from the card;

you cannot transfer funds to another account.

Payment is made exclusively through a payment terminal.

A single list of 30 MCC codes has been approved for the program, which are used for all state “child” payments.

Special account for child payments

Since August, Ukrainian families can receive all targeted state payments for children to a special account “Child Care” opened within the framework of “Diya.Kartka”.

It can receive funds under the programs:

“Baby Package”;

“Schoolchild Package”;
child care allowance up to one year old;
“e-Nursery”.
What businesses need

The Ministry of Social Policy emphasizes that entrepreneurs do not need to undergo additional registration to participate in the program.

It is enough for the payment terminal to use one of the permitted MCC codes. Stores can also place information stickers from the Ministry of Social Policy, which will inform buyers about the possibility of paying with state child payments.
