Ukrainian shopping centers lost more than six working days in August due to airstrikes

In August 2026, air alarms lasted 21.8% of the working time of Ukrainian shopping centers. This is the highest figure for the entire observation period. On average, shopping centers lost 6.4 working days per month due to alarms.

This was reported by the Ukrainian Council of Shopping Centers.

For comparison, in July, the share of working time lost due to air alarms was 20.1%, and a year ago – only 9.4%.

In August, all main indicators increased: the number of alarms, the number of alarms during shopping center operating hours, their total duration and duration directly during shopping center operating hours.

Where shopping centers suffer the most from alarms

The most difficult situation remains in frontline and border regions.

In the time period from 10:00 to 21:00, the largest share of time air alarms lasted in:

Donetsk region – 82%;

Sumy region — 76.4%;
Zaporizhia region — 71.4%;
Kharkiv region — 60.3%;
Chernihiv region — 40.1%.

At the same time, the largest increase in indicators during August was recorded in Kyiv and Kyiv region.

How many working hours have shopping centers lost since the beginning of the great war

According to the study, on average in Ukraine, the forced downtime of shopping centers due to air raids since the beginning of the full-scale invasion has already reached 166.8 working days.

Only during August 2026, this indicator was 6.4 working days.

Thus, August became a record month in terms of the share of working hours that Ukrainian shopping centers lost due to air raids.
