The Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Poland has sent an important reminder to citizens regarding the updating of personal data in the state register of PESEL. This primarily concerns persons who have the status of PESEL UKR and are in Poland.
The diplomatic institution emphasizes: by August 31, 2026, it is necessary to update the information of those citizens whose passport data is missing or has lost its relevance.
Who it concerns
The obligation to update data applies, in particular, to Ukrainians who:
entered Poland without a passport;
received a new passport but did not notify local government authorities about it;
issued a passport for a newborn child;
have inaccuracies or incomplete data in the PESEL register.
How to update information
To update data, you must personally contact the local authority — the city or commune governor — and submit the relevant documents.
The embassy also recommends that citizens who do not have a passport urgently obtain this document, as its absence may complicate access to administrative services in Poland.
Additional clarifications
Separately, the diplomatic institution recalled the importance of observing the rules of border crossing for citizens traveling between Ukraine and Poland or transiting through Polish territory.
Thus, timely updating of data in the PESEL register is a necessary condition for maintaining legal status and access to services for Ukrainians in Poland.
