Having a significant amount on a bank deposit may affect the right of Ukrainians to a housing subsidy. In 2026, when assigning assistance, the total amount of funds on deposit accounts of household members and their families will be taken into account.

If the established limit is exceeded, this may be grounds for refusing to assign a subsidy.

How much money can be on deposit

When assigning a subsidy, the funds that are on deposit accounts as of the 1st of the month from which the assistance is assigned are taken into account.

If any of the household members or their family members have a total amount of funds on deposit accounts exceeding 100 thousand hryvnias, this may be a reason for refusing a subsidy.

Domestic government loan bonds in the amount of more than 100 thousand hryvnias are also taken into account.

It is important that we are not talking about one separate deposit, but about the total amount on all deposit accounts.

For example, if a person has three deposits of 40, 35 and 30 thousand hryvnias, none of them individually exceeds the established threshold. However, the total amount is 105 thousand hryvnias, which already exceeds the limit.

Is money on a bank card taken into account

The rule regarding 100 thousand hryvnias applies specifically to funds on deposit bank accounts.

Therefore, having more than 100 thousand hryvnias in a regular current account or bank card in itself does not mean an automatic refusal of a subsidy based on this criterion.

At the same time, when assigning assistance, the Pension Fund assesses the financial condition of the household comprehensively.

What purchases can affect the subsidy

When checking the right to assistance, certain financial transactions are also taken into account.

In particular, the purchase of real estate, a car, securities, virtual assets or other long-term goods in the amount of more than 100 thousand hryvnias within 12 months before the application may be significant.

Separate rules apply to the purchase of currency and bank metals. If they were purchased for a total amount of more than 50 thousand hryvnias during the 12 months before the application, this may also affect the allocation of the subsidy.

At the same time, exceptions are provided, in particular for currency received from charitable organizations or purchased to pay for medical or educational services.

Will the subsidy be terminated immediately after replenishing the deposit

During the check, the amount of funds on deposits as of the 1st of the month from which the subsidy is assigned is taken into account.

Therefore, replenishing the deposit by more than 100 thousand hryvnias does not mean an automatic and immediate termination of the already assigned payment.

In addition to financial assets, when assigning a subsidy, the availability of other housing, debts for housing and communal services and other circumstances stipulated by the rules may be checked.

Who are the exceptions for?

The deposit restriction does not apply to orphans, children deprived of parental care, persons from their number, as well as family-type orphanages and foster families.
