The current deputy of the Uzhhorod City Council will stand trial on charges of knowingly providing false information in the declaration for 2024. The investigation found several significant discrepancies at once: undeclared use of real estate worth almost UAH 50 million and over UAH 28 million difference between the declared cash and the confirmed financial capabilities of the family.

As reported by the Uzhhorod District Prosecutor’s Office, the indictment has already been sent to court.

The hotel and restaurant complex was not included in the declaration

The violation was discovered by the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption during a full check of the deputy’s declaration.

According to law enforcement officials, the official did not indicate information about the use of a hotel and restaurant complex on the outskirts of Uzhhorod.

These are facilities that have been operating for about 20 years. Among them is a hotel with an area of over 1,074 sq. m, bathhouse, food block with swimming pool, cafe-bar and other real estate.

The total value of the property, information on the use of which was not included in the declaration, is estimated at almost 50 million UAH.

Over 108 million UAH in cash

Another episode concerns the spouses’ monetary assets. The deputy, together with his wife, declared over 108 million UAH in cash.

At the same time, the investigation concluded that the officially confirmed financial capabilities of the spouses allowed them to accumulate a little more than 79.7 million UAH.

The difference between the amount of declared monetary assets and confirmed financial capabilities exceeded 28.3 million UAH.

The case will be considered by the court

The deputy is charged with intentionally entering knowingly false information into the declaration by the subject of the declaration under Part 2 of Article 366-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators of the Uzhhorod District Police Department under the procedural guidance of the Uzhhorod District Prosecutor’s Office. Operational support was provided by employees of the Strategic Investigations Department in the Transcarpathian region.

After the indictment is sent, the court will provide a final assessment of the evidence. According to the principle of the presumption of innocence, a person is considered innocent until his guilt is proven in accordance with the procedure established by law and confirmed by a guilty verdict of a court that has entered into legal force.
