Veterans and families of fallen defenders may not pay a number of taxes and fees: what benefits apply

Ukrainian veterans, military personnel, people with disabilities as a result of the war, and family members of fallen defenders are entitled to a number of tax and financial benefits. They allow them not to pay certain taxes, fees, and court costs, as well as receive state payments without any deductions.

This was reported by the Lviv Regional Territorial Center for Recruiting and Social Support.

What payments are not taxed

The state does not tax:

social benefits;

compensation payments;
pensions;
one-time payments for Independence Day.

All these funds are received by beneficiaries in full without automatic deductions.

In addition, for certain categories of citizens, a tax social benefit is in effect, which allows them to reduce the amount of income from which personal income tax is paid.

What taxes and fees are exempted from

War veterans, people with disabilities as a result of war, and family members of deceased servicemen are entitled to the following benefits:

exemption from paying land tax for land plots belonging to them;
exemption from tourist tax when staying in hotels or other places of temporary accommodation (with a certificate);
exemption from paying court fees in cases related to social protection, benefits, and guarantees.

Also, military duty is not withheld from the financial support of servicemen who directly participate in hostilities and the repulsion of armed aggression.

Support for mobilized entrepreneurs

Certain benefits are also provided for individual entrepreneurs who were mobilized into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

For the period of military service, they may be exempted from paying certain taxes and fees, and not have to submit tax reports throughout the entire period of service.

The territorial recruitment centers emphasize that such benefits are one of the mechanisms of state support for military personnel, veterans, and families of fallen defenders of Ukraine.
