The President of Ukraine announced the strengthening of air defense in two cities with a population of millions – Dnipro and Odessa.
According to the President, the military command and the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine systematically analyze each Russian attack in order to promptly make decisions to increase the effectiveness of the defense of Ukrainian cities.
This is a comprehensive strengthening of air defense, which involves both technical and personnel changes. In particular, the deployment of additional radars, electronic warfare equipment and new crews has already been determined for Dnipro. Similar decisions have been made regarding Odessa, where, according to the President, it has already been possible to increase the percentage of enemy targets shot down, but there is a need to further strengthen the defense.
“We are strengthening all areas of defense… We are aware that the Russians are trying to bypass our air defense with the density of attacks and the intensity of strikes. We will counter them,” the Head of State emphasized.
Separately, the President emphasized the importance of international cooperation in the field of defense. Ukraine continues to work with partners to ensure a stable supply of components for air defense systems. In April, in particular, it was possible to attract the necessary resources and contributions to the PURL weapons procurement program.
Strengthening air defense is part of a systemic strategy to protect critical infrastructure and civilians against the backdrop of increasing intensity of air attacks from Russia.
