What products can be transported across the border: customs officers reminded of restrictions

When crossing the state border, citizens must comply with established customs regulations regarding the transportation of food. For certain categories of goods, there are clear weight restrictions, and some products are prohibited from being imported at all.

What products are prohibited from being transported

The following are completely prohibited:

Milk and dairy products (cheese, fermented milk products, canned goods containing milk);
fresh meat;
sausages, hot dogs, lard and other meat products;
canned meat – both home-made and industrially produced.

At the same time, meat products are allowed only as part of ready-made sandwiches intended for personal consumption during the trip.

What products can be transported

Ready-to-eat meals are allowed to be transported if their total weight does not exceed 2 kg per person.

The following limits have also been established:

seafood and fish – up to 5 kg;
fresh vegetables and fruits – up to 5 kg;
honey – up to 2 kg;
eggs and egg products – up to 2 kg;
confectionery (cakes, sweets, pastries) – up to 2 kg;
baby food – up to 2 kg;
cat and dog food – up to 2 kg (provided that the animal is traveling with the owner);
coffee – up to 500 g;
tea – up to 100 g;
caviar – up to 125 g;
chocolate – several bars.
Alcohol and tobacco restrictions

One adult is allowed to transport:

strong alcohol (over 22% alcohol) – up to 1 liter;
alcoholic beverages with a strength of up to 22% – up to 2 liters;
beer – up to 5 liters;
cigarettes or sticks – 2 packs;
cigars – 10 pieces;
tobacco – up to 50 grams;
electronic cigarettes – 2 pieces;
liquid for electronic cigarettes – up to 10 ml.
What about home-made preserves

There is no direct ban on the transportation of home-made vegetable twists. At the same time, customs authorities may seize preserves in glass jars during inspection.
