Why did the Rada talk about a possible move?

The Verkhovna Rada is considering the possibility of temporarily working the parliament in another city in the event of a further deterioration of the security situation in Kyiv. At the same time, a decision on moving has not yet been made.

This was stated by the People’s Deputy from the “Servant of the People” party, a member of the Temporary Special Commission of the Verkhovna Rada, Vitaliy Voitsekhovsky, on the air of “Evening.LIVE”.

Why did the Rada talk about a possible move

According to Voitsekhovsky, due to regular Russian attacks on Kyiv, the issue of the security of the Verkhovna Rada’s work remains relevant.

The People’s Deputy noted that technically the parliament can organize work in another city. For this, deputies need to be able to vote using mobile devices, and the corresponding work procedure should be regulated by the regulations.

The parliamentarian also stated that during air raids, deputies can vote in cover using smartphones.

Which city can they choose

Vojitsekhovsky did not name a specific city to which the work of the Verkhovna Rada could potentially be moved. According to him, the disclosure of such information could create additional security risks.

At the same time, the deputy cited as a possible scenario the organization of the work of the parliament in one of the cities in western Ukraine.

This is not a decision made, but only an option for action in case of further deterioration of the security situation.

Wojciechivskyi emphasized that even staying in the basement of the Verkhovna Rada cannot guarantee absolute security during Russian attacks.

“Let’s be prepared for the worst, but hope for the best,” the MP concluded.
