There are currently no prerequisites for the price of fuel in Ukraine to jump to 100 hryvnias per liter. A significant increase in price at gas stations is possible primarily in the event of a significant increase in world oil prices.

Economist Oleg Pendzin said this in a comment to Femida.ua.

According to him, the key factor for the Ukrainian fuel market remains the cost of oil on world markets.

During the conversation, the expert cited an indicator of about $ 87 per barrel and noted that at this level he sees no reason for a new sharp jump in prices at Ukrainian gas stations.

“It will not be cheaper, but it will not be more expensive either,” Pendzin noted.

The situation could change significantly if the world price of Brent oil exceeded approximately $ 110 per barrel. It is in this scenario, according to the economist, that one could talk about the likelihood of further fuel price increases in Ukraine.

Under current conditions, Pendzin does not see the economic prerequisites for the price of gasoline to rise to the psychological mark of 100 hryvnias per liter in the near future.

“Right now I do not see any prerequisites for growth,” the economist concluded.
