The issue of increasing gas tariffs and lifting the moratorium is not currently on the agenda of the Verkhovna Rada. There are no plans to return to the transition to market tariffs during the war.
This was stated by MP Yuriy Kamelchuk on the Vechir.LIVE broadcast.
Are there plans to increase tariffs
According to Kamelchuk, the parliament is not currently considering the issue of lifting the moratorium and increasing gas tariffs.
“Raising tariffs and lifting the moratorium are not on the agenda,” the MP noted.
At the same time, the situation with individual utility services may differ depending on the settlement and the body authorized to set the relevant tariffs.
The legislation provides that local governments, within the limits established by law, have the authority to set tariffs, in particular for thermal energy, centralized water supply and wastewater disposal, except in cases where they are set by the National Commission for the Promotion of Energy and Utilities of Ukraine.
What do they say about the requirements of European partners
Separately, Kamelchuk commented on the issue of Ukraine’s transition to a market model of tariff formation, which is being violated in the context of reforms and cooperation with European partners.
According to the deputy, the need to streamline the tariff system is being discussed, but they do not plan to implement the relevant changes during the war.
“Globally, they say that this needs to be put in order, but during the war we do not want to return to this and will not,” said Kamelchuk.
Can payments still change
The statement of the people’s deputy does not mean that the cost of absolutely all utility services in Ukraine will remain unchanged.
In particular, tariffs for water supply and wastewater disposal may differ depending on the city and supplier, and some tariffs are set by authorized local authorities in accordance with the legislation.
Therefore, consumers should focus on the decisions of their supplier and the authorities that have the authority to set a specific tariff.
At the same time, the issue of the general lifting of the moratorium and the transition to increased market tariffs for gas and heat, according to Kamelchuk, is currently not being considered in the Verkhovna Rada.
