The summit of the European Political Community has started in the capital of Armenia, bringing together leaders of European states and partners. Among the key participants is Volodymyr Zelensky, who is holding a series of talks on security, armaments, and Ukraine’s integration into European structures.
Security focus: air defense and armaments
One of the central topics of the summit was the strengthening of Ukraine’s air defense and the development of joint weapons production. The Ukrainian side emphasizes the need for systematic strengthening of air defense against the backdrop of constant attacks.
Special attention is paid to the restoration of the so-called “shell project” initiated by Andrzej Babis. This concerns providing Ukraine with artillery ammunition, which, despite the development of drone technologies, remain critically important for the situation on the front.
Diplomacy: negotiations with Slovakia
A meeting between the President of Ukraine and Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico is scheduled as part of the summit.
The parties are expected to discuss the issues of Ukraine’s European integration, in particular the opening of negotiation clusters. According to experts, the change in rhetoric of the Slovak government may contribute to the unblocking of this process in the near future.
Geopolitical signal: a new role for Europe
The summit also has a broader geopolitical context. The participation of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney emphasizes the expansion of cooperation beyond Europe and the formation of new alliances in the security sphere.
In addition, the holding of the event in Yerevan is seen as a signal of deepening cooperation between Armenia and the European Union.
