Ukraine risks facing a dangerous choice: agree to agreements that it was not involved in, or lose the support of a key ally. At the same time, incumbent President Volodymyr Zelensky, according to MP Oleksiy Honcharenko, has no chance of winning the next elections. And the politician himself no longer hides his ambitions to create his own political force.

Oleksiy Honcharenko spoke about Donald Trump’s possible agreements with Vladimir Putin, the prospects for ending the war, the mobilization crisis and the reasons for the break with “European Solidarity” in an exclusive interview with Femida.ua.

Ukraine may face a fact: what is happening in relations with the USA

Relations between Kyiv and Washington are going through a difficult period. Public disputes, mutual accusations and disagreements on ways to end the war create additional risks for Ukraine.

Oleksiy Honcharenko is convinced that despite the ambiguous decisions of the American administration, Ukraine cannot afford a conflict with the United States.

According to the deputy, the United States remains a key ally on which Ukraine’s defense capabilities largely depend. This is not only about the supply of weapons, but also about intelligence data, communications and other critically important capabilities.

“When leading politicians allow themselves some attacks, criticism, attacks against the American president, you should simply understand that for all this, unfortunately, we will pay the highest price – with the lives of our people,” Honcharenko emphasized.

In his opinion, the Ukrainian authorities should focus on resuming a constructive dialogue with Washington, because the deterioration of relations can directly affect the situation on the front.

Can Trump and Putin come to an agreement without Ukraine?

Another challenge is the likelihood of international agreements during which Ukrainian interests may remain outside the negotiation process.

Honcharenko drew attention to the fact that even Ukraine’s closest allies are guided primarily by their own economic and political interests. In particular, he gave examples of decisions by Western states regarding Russian energy resources and sanctions.

The politician suggests that certain restrictions against Russia may gradually be revised. Therefore, Ukraine, in his opinion, needs not just to express indignation, but to offer its partners specific solutions that will take into account Ukrainian interests.

The deputy is particularly concerned about the prospect of negotiations between the United States, Russia and China without the participation of the Ukrainian side.

“If we do not do this, this train will leave without us and we will be faced with a fact,” Honcharenko warned.

According to him, both possible scenarios pose a danger: either Ukraine will be forced to respond to agreements concluded without it, or it will risk being left without American support.

That is why, the deputy believes, Kyiv needs to form a clear negotiating position and actively defend it before international partners.

“Zelensky will lose the election”: Honcharenko assessed the president’s political future

The MP spoke no less categorically about Volodymyr Zelensky’s prospects in the next presidential election.

Oleksiy Honcharenko admits that it is impossible to organize a vote under the current security conditions. However, after the end of the war, he believes, Ukrainians should be given the opportunity to assess the activities of the current government.

“I personally think that Zelensky has no chance of winning the election. I think that he will lose the election if he goes to it,” the politician said.

Moreover, Honcharenko believes that the best solution for Zelensky would be to refuse to run again.

At the same time, the deputy is convinced that there are enough potential candidates in Ukraine who can compete with the incumbent president.

During the conversation, Valeriy Zaluzhny, Kyrylo Budanov and other well-known Ukrainians who are considered as possible participants in the upcoming election race were mentioned.

Separately, Honcharenko expressed doubts about the results of some sociological surveys. In his opinion, some citizens may hide their true political preferences, fearing possible consequences.

At the same time, this remains the deputy’s assumption, and not a proven fact of distortion of sociological data.

Mobilization has reached a dead end: what Honcharenko proposes

One of the most painful problems of Ukraine remains mobilization. The lack of clear terms of military service, according to the people’s deputy, only deepens the crisis.

Honcharenko is convinced that the current system has created a vicious circle: people do not want to mobilize due to the uncertainty of the terms of service, and the shortage of volunteers leads to an increase in forced methods of recruiting troops.

“Unfortunately, mobilization has turned into busification in our country,” the deputy said.

He sees a way out of the situation in establishing clear terms of service, providing adequate financial support, and introducing social guarantees for military personnel.

At the same time, Honcharenko warns: if increased mobilization is carried out exclusively through increased coercive measures, this could lead to even more serious
