Zelenskyy dismissed Ukraine’s ambassador to Qatar Andriy Kuzmenko

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has dismissed Andriy Kuzmenko from the post of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the State of Qatar. The head of state signed the relevant decree on August 26.

This is stated in the Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 834/2026.

“To dismiss Andriy Mykhailovych Kuzmenko from the post of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the State of Qatar,” the document states.

The reasons for the personnel decision are not specified in the decree.

Represented Ukraine in Qatar for over six years

Andriy Kuzmenko began his diplomatic mission in Qatar in late 2019 – early 2020.

Before being appointed ambassador, he worked for a long time in the diplomatic system of Ukraine.

Kuzmenko held various positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ukrainian diplomatic missions abroad. In particular, he worked in the UK, and was also an ambassador at large of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.

It is not yet known who will head the Ukrainian embassy in Qatar after Kuzmenko’s dismissal.

The decision was made against the backdrop of personnel changes in the diplomatic corps of Ukraine. Recently, the president has carried out a number of rotations among Ukrainian diplomats and heads of foreign missions.
