Zelenskyy identified the first tasks for the new government: preparations for winter, personnel decisions, and the government program

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a working meeting with the newly appointed Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky, during which the parties discussed the priority tasks of the new Cabinet of Ministers, the preparation of the government program, personnel issues and measures for the successful completion of the heating season.

The new government is preparing a work program

As the head of state reported, after the first meeting of the new Cabinet of Ministers, the key priorities of the government’s work and further coordination with international partners regarding the implementation of the reached agreements on supporting Ukraine were determined.

According to Zelenskyi, Serhiy Koretskyi has already started preparing the government program, which will be presented to the Verkhovna Rada and Ukrainian society in the near future.

The President emphasized that the work of the government will be based on the principle of the most pragmatic management, and each minister will bear personal responsibility for the performance of the specified tasks.

They discussed the appointment of the heads of the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

During the meeting, special attention was paid to personnel issues. In particular, Zelenskyi said that together with the Prime Minister he discussed the appointment of acting Minister of Defense and Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Currently, the issue of appointing new heads of these departments is still being worked out.

Preparation for the heating season

One of the main topics of the meeting was the preparation of the country for winter.

The President announced that the independent supervisory board of Naftogaz of Ukraine appointed Serhiy Fedorenko as the head of the company for a certain period. According to Zelensky, Fedorenko previously worked together with Serhiy Koretsky on the reform of PJSC Ukrnafta, where it was possible to clean internal processes from oligarchic influence and make the company one of the most profitable state-owned companies.

Russian attacks damaged Naftogaz facilities

The meeting also discussed the restoration of the energy infrastructure after the Russian shelling.

As the president reported, on July 17, Russian troops launched another attack on Naftogaz facilities, as a result of which significant damage was recorded.

“We discussed with the Prime Minister what steps are needed in such conditions, and it is important that, despite constant Russian attacks, we implement everything we agreed on to prepare for winter,” Volodymyr Zelenskyi said.

We will remind you that the Verkhovna Rada has already approved the new composition of the Cabinet of Ministers at the proposal of Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi. At the same time, the issue of appointing new heads of the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs still remains open.
