President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has instructed the government to develop a program for Ukraine’s accelerated accession to the European Union. It will become part of the Cabinet of Ministers’ action program and should be presented in August.

The head of state announced this in his evening address.

According to the President, he discussed the issue of European integration in detail with relevant ministers and the diplomatic team of the Office of the President. As a result of the meeting, the order of steps that should accelerate the process of Ukraine’s acquisition of EU membership was determined.

“We in Ukraine believe that we can set up the process so that our accession proceeds on a special fast track. Various integration processes, work on the rapprochement of our institutions can take place not sequentially, but in parallel,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted.

The President reported that Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky and Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Vsevolod Chentsov are already preparing the relevant program.

“I am counting on such an accelerated accession program, which should be part of the government’s action program. All the details should be presented in August,” the head of state emphasized.

Earlier, Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that during a meeting with government officials and representatives of the diplomatic bloc, three key priorities for Ukraine’s cooperation with the European Union were identified.

In turn, Deputy Prime Minister Vsevolod Chentsov expressed hope that the European Union would open the remaining negotiation clusters for Ukraine in the fall. According to him, completing the negotiation process on Ukraine’s accession to the EU by the end of 2027 is an ambitious but quite achievable goal.
