Zelenskyy introduced the new Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Ihor Klymenko and identified key tasks

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy officially introduced the new Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Ihor Klymenko, and outlined the main priorities of his work.

According to the President, Ihor Klymenko demonstrated effective work as Minister of Internal Affairs, successfully coordinating the activities of law enforcement agencies, rescue services and other components of the security sector.

One of the main tasks of the new Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council will be to strengthen coordination between all components of the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine. The President emphasized that this should ensure more efficient decision-making and increase the efficiency of the security sector.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy instructed to pay special attention to the state’s preparation for the winter period. According to him, Ihor Klymenko must ensure effective interaction between the government, military command, special services and other state bodies.

The strategic priorities also include accelerating the localization of production of air defense systems, missiles, and other weapons in Ukraine. In addition, the new NSDC Secretary will be responsible for strengthening counteraction to Russian cyberattacks, information operations, and disinformation campaigns.

“I expect proposals from Ihor Klymenko on what decisions should be made for the sake of greater results for Ukraine,” the President noted.

Recall that in July, Volodymyr Zelenskyy proposed that Ihor Klymenko head the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.

Personnel changes are taking place as part of a large-scale renewal of the executive branch. After the resignation of Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko on July 14, the entire Cabinet of Ministers resigned. On July 16, the Verkhovna Rada appointed Serhiy Koretsky as the new head of government.

Back on July 12, the President announced the restart of Ukraine’s foreign policy strategy and the preparation of personnel changes in the Cabinet of Ministers, calling them part of the renewal of the public administration system.
