Zelenskyy signed laws extending martial law and mobilization until October 31

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed laws on the next extension of martial law and general mobilization. The corresponding legal regimes will be in effect at least until October 31, 2026.

This is evidenced by the draft laws on the website of the Verkhovna Rada.

These are draft laws No. 15401 and No. 15402, which the parliament adopted on July 14. 313 people’s deputies voted for the extension of martial law, and 304 parliamentarians voted for the extension of general mobilization.

The documents provide for the extension of both regimes for another 90 days – from 05:30 on August 2, 2026.

The authorities explain the need for such a decision by the ongoing armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, which requires the preservation of a special legal regime and the implementation of mobilization measures to ensure the defense capability of the state.

Martial law and general mobilization have been in effect in Ukraine since February 24, 2022, when Russia launched a full-scale invasion. The current decision is the twentieth extension of these legal regimes since the start of the full-scale war.

After the current term ends, the Verkhovna Rada, if necessary, may extend martial law and general mobilization for another 90 days.
