Ukrainians who receive a disability pension have the right to work officially, engage in entrepreneurial activity and receive additional income. The fact of employment itself is not a basis for canceling pension payments.

Does employment affect the disability pension

According to the Law of Ukraine “On the Fundamentals of Social Protection of Persons with Disabilities in Ukraine”, citizens with disabilities have the right to work and equal employment opportunities.

Receiving a salary or income from entrepreneurial activity in itself does not deprive a person of the right to a disability pension.

At the same time, employment may affect certain additional payments, allowances or types of social assistance for which special conditions are provided by law.

What is the amount of a disability pension in October 2026

The amount of a disability pension in the solidarity system depends on the established disability group, insurance experience and calculated pension by age.

In particular, the following amounts are provided:

Group I — 100% of the old-age pension;
Group II — 90% of the old-age pension;
Group III — 50% of the old-age pension.

To be granted a pension, it is necessary to have an appropriate insurance period, which depends on the person’s age and the circumstances of establishing disability.

If the required period is not available, a person may apply for state social assistance under certain conditions. Its purpose and amount are determined by separate legal norms.

Is it necessary to notify the Pension Fund about work

Pensioners must notify the Pension Fund of Ukraine about employment or dismissal from work in accordance with the established procedure.

This is necessary for the correct calculation of payments, since certain allowances and increases are provided exclusively for non-working pensioners.

Thus, official employment does not mean automatic termination of the disability pension. However, a change in employment status may affect certain components of pension provision.
