Construction workers’ salaries are rising in Ukraine: who is being offered more than 70 thousand hryvnias?

In Ukraine, the demand for qualified workers in the construction sector is growing. In July 2026, the median salary in the category “Construction / facing works” was 38,125 UAH, which is 22% more than a year earlier. At the same time, employers are willing to pay individual specialists over 70 thousand UAH.

Who is paid the most in construction

The highest salary offers are received by specialists who have specific practical skills and relevant qualifications.

In July, the highest median salary was offered to facade workers — 72,500 UAH. Plasterers could expect an average of 71,250 UAH, and tilers — 71,000 UAH.

The median salary of bricklayers was 66,500 UAH, and painters — 65,000 UAH. Builders were offered an average of UAH 55,000, installers – UAH 47,500, electricians – UAH 45,000, welders – UAH 42,500. The lowest salary offers among the listed professions were for handymen – about UAH 29,000.

For comparison, the median salary in the entire category “Construction / facing works” was UAH 38,125. Thus, offers for facade workers almost twice exceed this figure.

What workers are most often sought after

Employers place the most vacancies for handymen, builders, installers, facade workers and electricians.

Tilers, bricklayers, welders, painters, plumbers and plasterers are also in steady demand on the market.

At the same time, the total number of vacancies in the construction sector increased by only 1% over the year. Candidate activity increased by 11%, and the average number of responses per vacancy increased from five to six.

This indicates that qualified craftsmen remain in particular demand, while in the segment of vacancies without narrow specialization, competition between candidates may be higher.

In which cities did the number of vacancies increase the most

The demand for construction workers increased most noticeably in a number of cities in the east, center and south of Ukraine.

In Kropyvnytskyi, the number of vacancies increased by 27%, in Dnipro – by 23%, Poltava – by 16%, Zaporizhia – by 14%, Mykolaiv – by 13%, Kharkiv – by 8%, Sumy – by 4%.

At the same time, in Kyiv, the number of vacancies decreased by 12%. In Rivne, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk and Vinnytsia, the drop was 10% each, in Ternopil – 8%.

Where competition between candidates is intensifying

In some cities where the number of vacancies is decreasing, employers are simultaneously receiving more responses from applicants.

The most significant increase in candidate activity was in Uzhhorod – by 46%. In Lviv, the number of responses increased by 41%, in Khmelnytskyi – by 29%, Chernivtsi – by 27%, Chernihiv – by 26%, Kyiv – by 21%, Ivano-Frankivsk – by 19%.

Thus, competition for jobs may intensify in western and some central cities. On the other hand, in cities where the number of vacancies is actively growing, employers may find it more difficult to find employees with the necessary qualifications.

Why are construction workers’ salaries rising

One of the main reasons for the increase in salaries is the shortage of qualified workers. Companies are forced to compete for specialists with the necessary skills and experience, which stimulates an increase in wages.

At the same time, the indicated amounts are median indicators in vacancies and do not mean that every employee is guaranteed to receive exactly this salary. The actual level of income depends on experience, qualifications, complexity of work, region and specific employer.
