Former Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov summoned to the Verkhovna Rada over Operation Midas

The Temporary Investigative Commission of the Verkhovna Rada summoned former Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov to a meeting on August 31. He is expected to provide explanations as part of the study of information related to Operation Midas and possible violations of anti-corruption legislation.

This was announced by the head of the Temporary Investigative Commission, People’s Deputy Oleksiy Honcharenko.

Why is Fedorov being summoned to the Rada

The meeting of the Temporary Investigative Commission is scheduled for August 31. One of the central topics will be the investigation of the circumstances related to Operation Midas.

According to Honcharenko, the members of the commission have accumulated “a lot of questions” for the former head of the Ministry of Defense.

The TSC’s appeal notes that the commission is investigating information regarding possible violations of the anti-corruption legislation of Ukraine.

Fedorov is expected to provide explanations and testimony as part of this work.

Fedorov previously addressed Zelensky with a question

The call to the TSC comes after a series of public statements by the former Minister of Defense.

In particular, Fedorov previously stated that President Volodymyr Zelensky should publicly explain whether he knew about corruption cases in the government.

At the same time, the ex-minister emphasized that he personally did not receive any illegal orders from the head of state.

What Zelensky said

The president, in turn, commented on the suspicions expressed to representatives of the President’s Office after investigations by anti-corruption agencies.

Zelensky stated that he had no additional information regarding the relevant NABU cases, except for the one that is publicly available.

Thus, on August 31, Fedorov is due to appear at a meeting of the parliamentary TSC, where deputies expect to receive answers from him regarding the circumstances that the commission is investigating in the context of Operation Midas.

At the same time, the mere fact of being summoned to the TSC does not mean that Fedorov is suspected or that he is involved in possible offenses.
