Criminals scare with “tax debts” and force to follow dangerous links
A large-scale phishing attack on behalf of the State Tax Service of Ukraine was recorded in Ukraine. Fraudsters send citizens and businesses emails with messages about the alleged existing tax debt and a demand to urgently pay it via the specified link.
This was reported by the press service of the State Tax Service of Ukraine.
The tax service emphasized that such messages have nothing to do with the official work of the State Tax Service and are an attempt to fraud and steal personal data.
Usually, fake letters use logos and style similar to official messages of the service. Users are urged to follow the link for an “urgent check” or “pay the debt”. In this case, the senders’ addresses only imitate the official domains of state bodies.
The State Tax Service warns: clicking on such links may lead to infection of the device with malicious software or loss of confidential information.
The Tax Service urges Ukrainians not to open suspicious emails, not to download attachments and to verify any information exclusively through official resources and communication channels.
