Over 300 gas stations damaged in Ukraine in six months: diesel price may rise to UAH 105

Over the past six months, more than 300 gas stations have been damaged in Ukraine as a result of Russian attacks. Against the backdrop of attacks on fuel and logistics infrastructure, fuel prices continue to rise, and diesel may rise in price to 105 hryvnias per liter.

Over the past six months, more than 300 out of 5,500 gas stations have been damaged in Ukraine, that is, about 5–6% of the entire network. At the same time, approximately 75% of damaged gas stations can be quickly restored. In the last week alone, Russian attacks have hit three Ukrnafta gas stations in Kyiv.

How much does fuel cost now

Against the backdrop of attacks on infrastructure and complicated logistics, the average cost of diesel fuel in Ukraine has increased to 96.44 hryvnias per liter.

The average price of A-95 gasoline is 85.72 hryvnias per liter.

At the same time, traders predict a further increase in the cost of diesel fuel — to 105 hryvnias per liter.

The risks to the fuel market are increasing due to systematic Russian attacks on logistics and energy infrastructure.

Russia intensifies attacks on logistics

It is not only gas stations that are under attack. In Odessa, a Russian strike destroyed the sorting center and EVA cosmetics warehouse, which served stores in three regions.

In Pryluky, a UAV attack destroyed the warehouses of an agricultural enterprise. Three people were killed and 13 more were injured.

Attacks on pharmaceutical logistics are becoming a separate problem. The attack on the warehouse of the drug distributor “BaDM” in Odessa was the fourth attack on pharmaceutical logistics since the beginning of September.

Given that the stocks of certain drugs in pharmacies may last only 2-3 weeks, further disruption of logistics creates risks of supply disruptions and an increase in the cost of drugs.

What this means for business

Further fuel price increases will increase companies’ costs for transporting goods and may affect the final cost of products for consumers.

For business, one of the key risks remains the stability of supplies. Against the backdrop of the forecast for diesel at UAH 105 per liter, companies are advised to plan and fix the necessary volumes of fuel purchases in advance.
