Participants of the Crimean Platform called for strengthening sanctions against Russia and combating their circumvention

The participants of the Sixth Summit of the International Crimean Platform called on the international community to increase sanctions pressure on Russia. They propose to pay special attention to individuals, companies and sectors involved in the aggression against Ukraine, the illegal occupation, the work of the so-called “shadow fleet” and the circumvention of already introduced restrictions.

The corresponding call is contained in the joint statement of the heads of state and government, as well as representatives of states and international organizations who participated in the summit.

Sanctions and the fight against their circumvention

The participants of the Crimean Platform called for “resolute, coordinated and consistent measures” against Russia.

This is not only about the introduction of new sanctions, but also about strengthening international coordination, which should make it more difficult to circumvent the existing restrictions.

They propose to increase sanctions pressure, in particular, against:

individuals and companies involved in Russian aggression;

sectors that contribute to waging war;
involved in the illegal occupation of part of the territory of Ukraine;
participants of the so-called “shadow fleet”;
those who help circumvent international sanctions.
Financial support and reconstruction of Ukraine

In the joint statement, the summit participants also supported international efforts to provide financial resources for Ukraine.

The funds should be directed to support and rebuild the state, as well as to compensate for the losses caused by Russian armed aggression.

Return of children and release of prisoners

Another block of the statement concerns Ukrainians held by Russia.

The participants of the Crimean Platform called for increased international efforts to release all civilians and political prisoners illegally held by the Russian Federation.

The need to return to Ukraine of children who were illegally taken away is particularly emphasized.

The summit participants also confirmed their readiness to continue providing political, diplomatic, economic and humanitarian support to Ukraine.

The sixth summit of the International Crimean Platform was held on September 23 in New York.
