On Friday, November 6, lawyer Masi Nayem reported that a search was conducted at the residence of an employee of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. According to him, the investigative actions are being carried out by employees of the Security Service of Ukraine within the framework of the so-called “Monaco” case.

What is known about the searches

According to Masi Nayem, he arrived at the scene of the investigative actions as a lawyer for a GUR serviceman.

The human rights activist claims that SBU officers broke down the door of the room, knocked his client to the ground and handcuffed him.

In addition, Nayem stated that law enforcement officers were supposed to wait for representatives of the internal security of the Main Intelligence Directorate, but did not do so.

At the time of publication, there was no official confirmation of the searches from the SBU or GUR.

What is known about the “Monaco” case

Presumably, this is an investigation into the explosion near the house of Ukrainian businessman Vadim Yermolayev in Monaco and the subsequent murder of a woman suspected of organizing the attack.

According to media reports, on June 29, 2026, a homemade device exploded near a residential building in the Principality of Monaco. Three people were injured in the incident: businessman Vadim Yermolaev, his companion, and his 13-year-old son.

As part of the investigation, law enforcement officers of Monaco and Interpol put Ukrainian citizen Anastasia Berezovskaya on the wanted list.

The woman was later found murdered in a forest area in the Kyiv region.

Who was detained in the case

As part of the investigation into Berezovskaya’s murder, law enforcement officers detained two men:

Vladislav Reut, a current employee of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine;

Vitaliy Zhykovych, a former employee of the Security Service of Ukraine.

Both are suspected of the deliberate murder of the woman.

According to the investigation, Vladislav Reut initially admitted his involvement in the crime and indicated the place where the body was buried. However, later during the trial he changed his testimony, stating that Vitaliy Zhykovych had fired the shot.

The latter denies his involvement in the murder.

According to the published information, both suspects are in custody.

It is currently unknown whether the search reported by Masi Nayem is directly related to the proceedings regarding the murder of Anastasia Berezovskaya. There have been no official comments from law enforcement agencies on the lawyer’s statements yet.

Let us recall that in accordance with the principle of the presumption of innocence, a person is considered innocent of committing a criminal offense until his guilt is proven in accordance with the law and established by a final court verdict of conviction.
