The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has adopted Bill No. 12426, which introduces uniform inspection rules for both traditional trade and online platforms.
234 MPs voted in favor of the relevant decision.
Uniform standards for all sellers
The document stipulates that product quality control will be carried out according to the same principles regardless of the method of its sale – in physical stores or via the Internet.
This will eliminate gaps in the regulation of e-commerce and ensure equal conditions for business.
Strengthening control and responsibility
According to the explanatory note, the law increases the effectiveness of state market supervision and increases responsibility for violations of product safety requirements.
It also expands the state’s ability to promptly respond to consumer complaints and protect their rights.
A step towards EU integration
The adopted act is part of the preparation for the conclusion of the Agreement on Conformity Assessment and Acceptance of Industrial Products (ACAA), which paves the way for Ukraine’s integration into the European Union’s single market.
The new rules are expected to facilitate the free circulation of Ukrainian goods in the EU and increase trust in the national quality control system.
Thus, the law not only strengthens consumer protection, but also brings Ukrainian legislation closer to European standards.
