Ukraine breaks export records: sales of eggs and chicken abroad have reached their highest level in recent years

In May, Ukrainian producers set two export records at once

Ukrainian poultry products continue to strengthen their positions in world markets. In May 2026, egg exports reached the highest monthly figure in the last seven years, and poultry meat supplies became a record in the last five years.

This is evidenced by data from industry statistics and the Union of Poultry Farmers of Ukraine.

Egg exports exceeded 229 million pieces

In May, 229.18 million eggs were shipped abroad. This is 11.4% more than in April and 20.1% more than in the same period last year.

Foreign exchange earnings from egg exports reached $23.9 million, which is almost 40% higher than in May 2025.

In total, in the first five months of 2026, Ukraine exported more than 1 billion eggs. The volume of deliveries increased by 22%, and foreign exchange earnings – immediately by 64%, to $ 112.5 million.

Europe remains the main sales market

The main importers of Ukrainian eggs were:

Spain – 28.1%;

Great Britain – 14%;

Poland – 9.4%;

Israel – 7.3%.

The European Union countries account for about 75% of all Ukrainian egg exports.

Chicken also set a record

May was no less successful for poultry producers. During the month, Ukraine exported 43.6 thousand tons of products, which was the best result in the last five years.

Compared to April, the volume of deliveries increased by 7%, and revenue increased to $ 93.6 million.

The average export price reached $2.15 per kilogram, which is explained by the change in the supply structure and the increase in the share of products with higher added value.

Who buys Ukrainian poultry meat

The largest buyers of Ukrainian chicken in January-May 2026 were:

The Netherlands – 17.9%;

Great Britain – 11.8%;

Slovakia – 10.2%;

United Arab Emirates – 6.9%.

EU countries accounted for almost 35% of the physical volume of exports and almost 45% of all foreign exchange earnings from the sale of poultry meat.

The agricultural sector is increasing its export potential

In the first five months of 2026, Ukraine exported 207.1 thousand tons of poultry meat, which is 6.1% higher than the same period last year. In addition, 7.2 thousand tons of finished poultry products worth $24.4 million were delivered to foreign markets.

The growth in poultry exports confirms the ability of the Ukrainian agricultural sector, even in wartime, to remain an important supplier of food to the European and world markets.
