The Verkhovna Rada supported draft law No. 6506-1, which updates the system of monetary support for employees of the National Police. The document is designed to strengthen the social guarantees of law enforcement officers, make the service more attractive and ensure a fair approach to remuneration.

Legislative changes establish the basic principles of the formation of financial support for police officers. When determining the amount of payments, the complexity and risks of the service, special rank, position, years of service, level of qualification, as well as a scientific degree or academic rank will be taken into account.

The salary of law enforcement officers will consist of official salary, salary for a special rank, monthly allowances and additional payments, bonuses and one-time additional payments.

One of the key innovations is the establishment of a minimum official salary at the level of at least ten subsistence wages for able-bodied persons. As of 2026, this amounts to at least 33,280 hryvnias. At the same time, an updated system of seniority bonuses is provided, the amount of which will vary from 5% to 50% of the official salary depending on the length of service.

The law also guarantees the preservation of monetary support for police officers who perform official duties abroad, and provides for the possibility of receiving additional remuneration in foreign currency.

The authors of the document emphasize that the reform should contribute to strengthening the personnel potential of the National Police, increasing the prestige of the profession and ensuring a transparent mechanism for calculating payments.

The law will enter into force on January 1, 2027.
