Journalists have published new details of the investigation into the so-called “Midas case,” which was documented by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine. These are audio recordings of conversations in the apartment of businessman Timur Mindich, suspected of corruption schemes in the energy sector. This is reported by Ukrainska Pravda.
According to Ukrainska Pravda, the recordings include former presidential aide Serhiy Shefir, current NSDC Secretary Rustem Umerov, and other individuals. The conversations date back to the summer of 2025.
Content of the conversations: money, politics, and influence
The fragments of the recordings discuss, in particular:
possible sources of funds for the bail for Oleksiy Chernyshov
internal financial agreements between the participants
issues of influence on political processes
Separate mentions concern MPs Yuriy Kisel and Oleksandr Sova, as well as individuals associated with the power vertical.
Other conversations include discussions of business assets, real estate, and coordination between the parties.
Defense aspect and the parties’ reactions
Another episode recorded a dialogue with Rustem Umerov, where defense contracts and weapons manufacturers are mentioned. Umerov himself publicly stated that he had already provided explanations to law enforcement agencies and rejects any accusations of undue influence.
Earlier, prosecutors from the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office stated about Mindich’s possible influence on officials, particularly in the energy sector.
