Norway has officially decided to join the agreement on the establishment of a Special Tribunal for the crime of aggression by Russia against Ukraine, becoming another European state that supports bringing the aggressor to justice.

Representatives of the Ukrainian side reported this, emphasizing that the Oslo decision is an important step towards restoring justice and strengthening international support for Ukraine.

A signal for international justice

The message emphasizes that Norway’s accession is not just a political gesture, but a concrete contribution to the creation of a mechanism for accountability for the crime of aggression.

“Each such decision brings closer the establishment of a Special Tribunal, which should ensure real justice,” the statement says.

Who has already supported the initiative

Norway has become the 15th state that has confirmed its readiness to join the establishment of the tribunal. Among them: Great Britain, Estonia, Spain, Costa Rica, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Moldova, the Netherlands, Germany, Slovenia, Ukraine, Croatia and Sweden.

Earlier, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sybiga reported on the accession of a new state to this initiative, but did not disclose its name. Now it has become known that it is Norway.

The expansion of the coalition of founding states indicates growing international support for the idea of creating a special tribunal. This is another step towards the formation of an effective mechanism for bringing to justice the crime of aggression against Ukraine.
