Former MP suspected of spreading Kremlin propaganda and calling for surrender to occupiers
The Security Service of Ukraine has reported a new suspicion to former MP Yevgeny Murayev, the leader of the banned pro-Russian party Nashi. According to the investigation, he continued information and subversive activities in favor of the Russian Federation even after the start of the full-scale invasion.
Called the war an “internal conflict”
As reported by the SBU, while abroad, Murayev gave interviews in which he denied Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine and called the war an “internal civil conflict.”
In addition, according to the special service, the former MP spread fakes about the situation in Ukraine, called on Ukrainians to lay down their arms before the Russian occupiers, and justified the temporary occupation of part of the country’s territory.
SBU: Nash TV channel used for disinformation
The special service also recalled that before the ban of Nash TV channel, which was linked to Murayev, the media resource was systematically used to spread pro-Russian narratives and disinformation in the interests of the Kremlin.
“The examination initiated by the Security Service confirmed the facts of the information and subversive activities of the person involved in the interests of the aggressor country,” the SBU noted.
Under which article was the suspicion declared
Based on the collected evidence, investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine in absentia informed Yevhen Murayev of suspicion under Part 1 and Part 3 of Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – justification, denial of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine and glorification of its participants.
Currently, law enforcement officers are continuing comprehensive measures to bring the former People’s Deputy to justice.
