During the visit, the parties discussed key security challenges, the consequences of Russian aggression, and further strengthening cooperation between Ukraine and Spain in the field of security and law and order.
The foreign delegation was met in Kyiv by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Kateryna Pavlichenko. She thanked the Spanish side for its support for Ukraine and its readiness to strengthen partnership in the field of protecting citizens and countering modern threats.
The delegation honored the memory of the fallen defenders of Ukraine
As part of the visit, representatives of the Spanish Ministry of Internal Affairs, together with the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko, the Head of the National Police Ivan Vyhivskyi, and the Commander of the National Guard Oleksandr Pivnenko, laid flowers at the Wall of Remembrance of those who fell for Ukraine on Mykhailivska Square in Kyiv.
During the ceremony, the parties honored the Ukrainian military who died defending the country’s independence from Russian aggression since 2014.
Klymenko spoke about the consequences of Russian attacks
After the ceremony, Igor Klymenko held an official meeting with representatives of the Spanish delegation and thanked Spain for its comprehensive support for Ukraine since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine emphasized that recently Russia has continued to carry out massive strikes not only on military facilities, but also on civilian and critical infrastructure.
According to Klymenko, due to strikes on the energy system last winter, about 350 thousand residents of Kyiv were left without heat, and the air temperature in some places dropped to -25°C. In response, units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Emergency Service quickly deployed heating points and provided psychological assistance to the population.
Separately, the Ukrainian side drew attention to the systematic attacks of the Russian Federation on seaports and logistics infrastructure of Ukraine.

Spanish Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska Gomez stated that one of the main priorities during the war remains the protection of people and support for Ukrainian citizens.
He emphasized that Spain continues to actively assist Ukrainians by providing shelter, humanitarian support and access to social programs.
