The Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine announced the application of a compulsory appearance to MP Mykola Tyshchenko due to his systematic failure to appear in court.
The Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Dnipro made the corresponding decision, recognizing the reasons for the deputy’s absence as disrespectful. He had already been fined UAH 3,328 earlier, but this did not affect his procedural behavior. In this regard, the prosecution initiated a motion for a compulsory appearance, which the court granted.
The next court hearing is scheduled for May 14, and this time the deputy’s participation will be provided forcibly.
The essence of the criminal proceedings
The criminal case concerns an incident that occurred on June 20 in Dnipro. According to the investigation, a group of people associated with the deputy’s entourage attacked a former military serviceman – a former GUR soldier, who was illegally deprived of his liberty and inflicted bodily harm.
This is the victim Dmytro Pavlov, known by the call sign “Son”, who was attacked in the city center while walking with his family. According to the investigation, the deputy’s security guards were involved in the incident.
Mykola Tyshchenko himself previously denied involvement in the illegal actions, while expressing his own version of events regarding the victim’s connections.
Procedural stage
Currently, the trial is at the stage of examining the written evidence of the prosecution. The use of a compulsory reason indicates the court’s intention to ensure the continuity of the process and compliance with the principle of reasonable terms for considering the case.
Significance of the decision
The court’s decision demonstrates that procedural obligations are mandatory for all participants in the proceedings, regardless of status, and their disregard may result in the application of coercive measures provided for by the criminal procedural legislation of Ukraine.
