Cabinet eases border crossing rules

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved amendments to the rules for crossing the state border during martial law, allowing certain categories of women working in the public sector to travel outside Ukraine.

Corresponding amendments have been made to clause 2-14 of the Rules for Crossing the State Border by Citizens of Ukraine.

Travel is only possible on business trips

According to the new rules, for persons specified in clause 2-14, travel abroad is still allowed exclusively on business trips.

At the same time, the government has abolished some restrictions specifically for women working in the public sector, with the exception of certain categories of high-ranking officials.

Who are not affected by the relaxations

Restrictions on travel remain for women holding key state and management positions. In particular, these include:

members of the government and their deputies;

the leadership of the Office of the President;
the leadership of the Security Service of Ukraine;
judges of the Supreme Court and the Constitutional Court;
prosecutors of the Office of the Prosecutor General;
heads of central government bodies;
heads of local administrations;
heads of state-owned enterprises and companies with a state share of more than 50%.
The government explained the purpose of the decision

The Cabinet of Ministers notes that the changes are aimed at liberalizing state policy on border crossing and expanding opportunities for performing official duties outside Ukraine during martial law.

The new rules should simplify international cooperation and the participation of public sector representatives in international events, programs and negotiations.
