Cabinet of Ministers is preparing a new employment policy
There are about 7 million citizens in Ukraine who can be involved in the labor market. This was announced by the Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture Oleksiy Sobolev.
According to him, currently 13.1 million people work in the country, but the single social contribution is paid for only 10.5 million, which is approximately a third of the population.
Who is included in the labor reserve
The government includes the following as potential human resources:
internally displaced persons;
youth;
people with disabilities who are not involved in work;
citizens under 60 who are already receiving a pension;
people with care responsibilities.
The government plans to create conditions for their return to the labor market through targeted support and retraining programs.
New programs and initiatives
Among the key areas of state policy:
training personnel for the defense-industrial complex with state support for education;
launch of the “Experience Matters” program for citizens aged 50+;
support for young entrepreneurs (18–25 years old) through mentoring and micro-grants;
career guidance programs for teenagers in cooperation with UNICEF;
the “Foothold” program to support businesses in wartime;
the possibility of terminating employment relationships with employers in occupied territories;
creation of a system for forecasting personnel needs.
Labor market reform
The proposed initiatives became part of the decisions adopted during the so-called “Labor Cabinet”. They are aimed at overcoming the shortage of personnel, modernizing the labor market and increasing the employment rate of the population.
Thus, the government is betting on the activation of internal resources, which should become one of the key factors in the country’s economic recovery.
