The Verkhovna Rada is continuing discussions on possible personnel changes in the government. In particular, it is about the potential replacement of the current Prime Minister Yulia Svyridenko with the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov.

This was stated by the People’s Deputy of Ukraine Oleksandr Koltunovych on the air of the YouTube project “Superposition”.

According to the parliamentarian, the parliament is currently assessing the possibility of implementing such a personnel decision and checking whether there will be enough votes of the people’s deputies to support it.

“The Rada is discussing the replacement of Prime Minister Svyridenko with Fedorov and checking the availability of votes,” Koltunovych noted.

At the same time, the deputy claims that there is internal political competition around the Minister of Defense within the parliamentary majority. In his opinion, this affects the information background around Mykhailo Fedorov.

“Fedorov is actively and his own people are beating him – representatives of the deputy faction of the ruling monomajority. They have internal competition, so they are trying to pin all the problems that exist in the context of mobilization on him as much as possible in order to nullify his political weight as a future prime minister,” the MP said.

So far, no official decisions have been made regarding the change of the head of government. The President of Ukraine, the Cabinet of Ministers, and the parliamentary majority have not announced any preparation for personnel changes.

As a reminder, Yulia Svyrydenko has been the Prime Minister of Ukraine since July 17, 2025. Before that, she was the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy.

Mykhailo Fedorov has been the head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine since January 14, 2026. Previously, he headed the Ministry of Digital Transformation for a long time and held the positions of Deputy Prime Minister and First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine.
