Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga has called on partner states to accelerate the supply of air defense systems and interceptor missiles to Ukraine, stressing that strengthening the protection of Ukrainian skies is critically important ahead of the winter period.
The head of Ukrainian diplomacy stated this during a meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council.
According to Sybiga, Russia continues intensive massive attacks on Ukrainian cities, increasingly actively using ballistic missiles as one of the main tools of pressure on the civilian population.
“Air defense remains our top priority. I emphasized the urgent need to strengthen protection against ballistic threats. Putin is counting on ballistic terror as his last advantage. That is why strengthening missile defense is not only a matter of saving human lives, but also an important step towards forcing Russia to end the war,” the minister noted.
During the meeting, Sybiga also informed the allies about the consequences of the latest Russian shelling and the situation on the front, emphasizing that the resilience of the Ukrainian Defense Forces directly affects the security of all of Europe.
The Foreign Minister paid special attention to the international PURL program, within the framework of which partners finance the purchase of American weapons for Ukraine. According to him, additional contributions to this initiative are of crucial importance for strengthening the Ukrainian air defense system.
“Today, it is the battle for the Ukrainian sky that determines the further course of the war. Victory in the air is one of the key prerequisites for achieving a just and sustainable peace,” Sybiga emphasized.
The Minister also emphasized that Ukraine no longer only receives assistance from partners, but is also an important element of European and Euro-Atlantic security.
“Ukraine is not a country that only needs protection. We are a security partner that has unique combat experience, modern military technologies and innovations. “NATO’s future collective security system is impossible without Ukraine,” the Foreign Minister said.
In conclusion, Andriy Sybiga thanked the allies for their unwavering support for Ukraine and stressed the importance of further consolidating international efforts to strengthen the state’s defense capabilities and achieve a just peace.
