Ukraine is preparing to receive another package of financial assistance worth up to 2.7 billion euros under the Ukraine Facility program. This was announced by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko following a meeting with European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos.
Legislative prerequisites for financing
According to the head of government, receiving funds became possible thanks to the coordinated work of the Cabinet of Ministers and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. The Parliament adopted a package of legislative changes necessary for the continuation of financing, in particular regarding:
digitalization of enforcement proceedings;
integration into the EU energy market;
reform of the state supervision system.
The government continues consultations with people’s deputies to ensure the fulfillment of obligations to European partners.
Financial support and macro-stability
It is expected that funds under the Ukraine Facility program will be directed to supporting the macro-financial stability of Ukraine. Separately, the parties discussed the technical aspects of receiving the first tranche of the large-scale European Union assistance package worth up to 90 billion euros.
European integration progress
During the meeting, significant attention was paid to Ukraine’s progress on the path to EU membership. The Prime Minister emphasized that Ukraine is systematically taking the necessary steps within the negotiation process in all six thematic clusters.
In particular, the government has already approved the National Program for the Adaptation of Ukrainian Legislation to EU Law, which provides for the implementation of over 1,600 acts of European law.
This step is an important element of harmonizing Ukrainian legislation with European standards and confirms the state’s strategic course towards full membership in the European Union.
