The Coordination Headquarters explained the principle of forming lists for the future exchange

Ukraine officially handed over to the Russian side the so-called “list of 1000” as part of the preparation of a large-scale exchange of prisoners of war in the “1000 by 1000” format. This was reported by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.

Who was included in the list

The headquarters noted that the list primarily included Ukrainian prisoners of war based on the duration of their captivity — starting from the first months of Russia’s full-scale invasion.

According to representatives of the headquarters, this approach has been repeatedly agreed upon by authorized negotiators from Ukraine and the Russian Federation.

“This is a fair humanitarian approach, carried out with the participation and support of the United States of America and shows the state’s concern for its defenders,” the Coordination Headquarters emphasized.

Negotiations are ongoing

Currently, negotiations on a large-scale exchange are continuing. The headquarters called on citizens and relatives of prisoners of war not to spread unverified information from unofficial sources, so as not to harm the negotiation process.

Zelensky announced US guarantees

Earlier, Volodymyr Zelensky reported that the exchange of prisoners in the “1000 for 1000” format should take place, and the United States of America provided corresponding guarantees regarding the implementation of the agreements.

It is expected that the upcoming exchange may become one of the largest in the entire time of the full-scale war.
