The Russian command has begun withdrawing some of its units from the Kinburn Spit in the Mykolaiv region. The reason was the strikes by Ukrainian forces on the logistical routes of the occupiers in southern Ukraine, which significantly complicated the supply of ammunition, fuel and food.
This is stated in a new report by the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
According to analysts, the partisan movement “Atesh” reported the beginning of the withdrawal of units of the 337th Airborne Regiment of the Russian Federation from the northern and western parts of the Kinburn Spit. Sources of the movement claim that the Russian troops in this area have actually lost the ability to effectively hold positions due to problems with logistics and constant strikes by Ukrainian drones.
It is also reported that some of the Russian military may be transferred to the Zaporizhia direction – probably to the areas of Orikhiv or Hulyaipol.
The spokesman for the Southern Defense Forces, Vladislav Voloshyn, noted that the Ukrainian army is indeed systematically striking the enemy’s logistical routes in the temporarily occupied territories, but it is currently impossible to officially confirm or deny information about the Russian retreat from the Kinburn Spit.
The ISW emphasizes that the intensification of Ukrainian medium-range strikes is already beginning to affect the situation on the front and may have even more tangible consequences in the near future.
The Kinburn Spit is of strategic importance for Russian troops, since the occupiers previously used it for artillery strikes on Ochakov and control of part of the Black Sea.
