On Tuesday, May 19, the High Council of Justice decided to submit a proposal to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the appointment of Yulia Valentinivna Amirova to the position of judge of the Northern Economic Court of Appeal.

The High Council of Justice emphasizes that one of the key challenges for the judicial system of Ukraine remains an acute shortage of personnel. The number of judges leaving the justice system significantly exceeds the number of new appointments.

Thus, during 2025, the President of Ukraine issued 87 decrees on the appointment of 143 judges. In 2026, as of May 1, 28 decrees on the appointment of 36 judges were signed.

At the same time, 285 judges were dismissed from the justice system during the same period.

The High Council of Justice notes that this situation creates a significant burden on current judges and directly affects the terms of consideration of cases. Due to staff shortages, the judicial system faces additional difficulties in ensuring the effective administration of justice.
