Ukraine has become the only NATO partner state that has received the right to participate in the Alliance’s military exercises under the collective defense article.

This was announced by the Ambassador of Ukraine to NATO, Alena Getmanchuk.

According to her, this decision was an important breakthrough in Ukraine’s cooperation with the Alliance, since previously the Ukrainian military participated only in exercises in the status of a partner country, without being involved in scenarios that provide for collective defense mechanisms.

As Getmanchuk emphasized, Ukraine received the corresponding right by decision of the North Atlantic Council of NATO, and currently no other partner country has such a status.

The participation of the Ukrainian military in such exercises is of important practical importance not only for Ukraine, but also for the Alliance itself. In particular, it allows the allies to adopt the real combat experience of the Ukrainian army, the use of modern weapons and unmanned technologies that have already proven their effectiveness in war.

The ambassador also emphasized that NATO is demonstrating its readiness to transform and rethink approaches to military exercises, focusing not only on the demonstration of force, but also on real training and adaptation to modern challenges.

Separately, Getmanchuk reported that Ukraine currently receives from 90% to 92% of interceptors for Patriot air defense systems under the mechanism of procurement of American weapons by European countries.

She also confirmed that during the upcoming Alliance summit in Ankara, a meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council at the ministerial level will be held.

Diplomatic circles emphasize that this format of cooperation brings Ukraine even closer to practical integration into the Alliance’s security architecture.
